My journaling:
Poor little Mark, . . . the boy is a climber, with no trees to climb! He is having to make do with the Crepe Myrtle bush in his backyard. Have you noticed that there aren’t as many good climbing trees around as there were many years ago? And, have you noticed too that the trees are “limbed up” so they will look nice and tidy and we won’t hit our heads on the limbs when we ride our sleek mowers beneath their canopies? Mark, your mama & uncles would climb the old pine tree when we lived in town & hang from their knees getting pine tar all over their skin! And, when I was a little girl, there were two large dogwood trees in PaPa Pat’s front yard that Rose Leigh climbed so much that we killed both of them eventually. When we would climb up very high, we thought that no one could see us, and .that we could see all across the world to the ocean! Maybe the next time you come to visit, we can find a nice tree for you to climb to the top of the world through the branches, and hide behind its leaves. Won’t we have fun!
