In addition to all the Sihk traditions that we experienced at this wedding, we also had Russian traditions. My SIL\'s mother was born in Shanghai to White Russians so her family was raised Russian Orthodox and with many Russian traditions. She started the toasts of which there were five in total--all starting with a song and then "Gorko" as the toast which means "bitter". It means you have to kiss a long time to get rid of the bitterness of the vodka after you drink it.
