This project for me this year - some weeks there may be a few stories - other weeks nothing at all to report.
I'm going for a paper scrappy look this year, and as always on the catch up trail.

Journalling:
Stayed with mum the night before which is the norm for Geelong events. She was looking forward to being a cheer squad for any of our girls if she could remember what they were wearing. She took careful note when meeting them when we arrived. Cold morning and spitting rain but it did not deter us, today was going to be great.

Lined up and then it started. The HM and the 7.3km race started together. I just blotted everyone out and ran at my own pace. No headphones, I was happy. I kept up a good pace, it was comforting knowing what to expect this was the third time I'd run this event. Didn't have to slow down through water areas as I had my handheld bottle which worked well, just half refilled it once.

Got to 4km to go and actually passed three people which shocked me. I had a GU at 45 mins, 90 mins then the 18km mark hoping for a final kick. I knew at this stage unless I fell flat on my face I was running a PB. Excitement got to me. There was a girl up ahead I was trying to reel in. She would walk and I got closer and closer. I was just on right behind her with a plan to take her by surprise and at 400 metres to go a man on the side of the road applauded and said 'good job ladies' and she realised the plural and looked over her shoulder in shock then took off. Darn!

Got to about 50 metres to go and saw Shev and Sue on one side. Then Mel and Leah on the other. I was ecstatic and love the pic Leah took my arms up in the air enjoying that last run to the finish. 2:33:04 a 10 minute PB!!!! I was thrilled. This was the lowest weight I'd run a HM at, hmmm go figure! Makes sense not lugging the extra kgs around. I got my hat and some fruit at the finish area and a medic quickly came over to me to see if I was alright. I just looked at him and said "I'm bloody awesome why?" and I hadn't realised I was crying and he thought I was hurt.

Quickly went back to mum my biggest cheer squad today, she was so proud. We celebrated all the amazing times the girls had run. What a morning!!!!!! Mum and I ended up having brunch in East Geelong and they made a big fuss of my run which was so nice. Such an awesome morning. 2:30 I'm coming for you!!!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: ANY IDIOT CAN RUN - BUT IT TAKES A SPECIAL KIND OF IDIOT TO RUN A HALF MARATHON!
