Marathon is a 600 lb. chrome and steel construct by artist Bettye Hamblen Turner. Built of car parts, he and one other longhorn sculpture by Turner, Galahad, can be seen at the Belini Sculpture Ranch just outside of Johnson City, Texas. Marathon greets you as you make the turn off of highway 290 to enter the drive to the ranch. He is, perhaps, the best known longhorn in Texas, and has always been a favorite sight on the road between Johnson City and Fredricksburg. The Belini ranch was originally part of the LBJ ranch, and is on the opposite side of the road from the LBJ ranch.
