My page for the latest Scraplift is about a trip to Maine to visit friends on our way up the coast to Camden. We arrived fairly early and in time for me to enjoy cooking in her warm and happy little kitchen. Joan and her husband are fast friends from our 1960ish Army days in Germany. We see each other every two or three years when we travel to New England for an autumn outing. We are blessed with their friendship after nearly 50 years! I love the page Wendy chose this week . . . Liz (Lizzie5) creates the most wonderful layouts . . . and love this one of her beautiful daughter. https://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/blog/saturday-scraplift-clean-column/

Journaling:
When we pulled in, Joan hadn't begun cooking . . . she had a large bucket of fresh carrots, yellow beets, acorn squash and potatoes all gathered from her large garden. I helped wash and pare the vegetables and iced the cake. Next she took a large bowl of freshly picked Sugar Snap peas, which she steamed for us. Joan is a wonderful country cook. I remember how good she was when we lived in Germany and that hasn't changed at all! I had to admit that I seldom cook like she does . . . Joan said that she cooked three big meals each day. Her dad just moved in with them in July. Pop was so cute . . . a full head of white and as fit as a fiddle. He uses the uses the long passageways through the connected barns for his daily exercise. Ernie & Rich walked to the other side of their road to their largest barn to take a look at the new John Deere tractor. Joan and went over to pick the last of the raspberries and then we forgot to eat them!
