the short story: i’m starting another book! long live the grid!
the long story: for my aunt’s 50th birthday, my mom and her siblings put together an amazing hors d’oeuvres-and-drinks party, in five courses, with literary themes from each of five different books. (the idea came from a book called Tequila Mockingbird). the tables were set in five different themes and the food and drinks were served by two of my cousins who were in full costume with each new presentation.
it seemed like too fun of an idea to put together a collection of photos along with the menu (which will be displayed on a separate page), a potent quote from the book, and some narrative of the memories that were made on the day of the party and in the planning leading up to it.
this is the “Carrie” course— “Bloody Carrie” drinks with bacon-wrapped scallops, and the girls wearing dressed from the prom night scene. for any of you who have read the book or seen the movie, this makes sense. i had no idea what was going on (never having seen/read it) but could appreciate all the creative talent at work.
