• Using the Alt/Opt key to duplicate layers in Photoshop and PSE

Here's a technique I find myself using more and more in Photoshop and Elements. When you want to duplicate anything, hold the Alt (Mac: Opt) key and drag the item on your page. This makes a copy of the layer which is selected so that you can drag it into place.

Additionally, you can select a layer in the Layers panel using the Alt/Opt key and drag it up or down to duplicate it. You can even select multiple layers in the Layers panel by holding the Ctrl key (Mac: Cmd) to select all the layers you need, then hold the Alt (Mac: Opt) key and drag to duplicate them.

It's the fastest way to make a copy as you are working on a digital project.
