• How to Unzip Multiple Downloads with Unzip Them All

When you purchase items from Designer Digitals, they are delivered to your computer as zipped files. Here's a simple way to save some time unzipping all those goodies so you can use them.

Normally when you download your files, you unzip them by double-clicking the zipped file then choosing "Extract All" or "Extract."
Extracting each file individually can take some time if you have taken advantage of a sale weekend and loaded your folder with downloads.

Unzip Them All is a small freeware software program that allows you to unzip multiple files at one time. (It is totally free, but you can make a donation to the developer if you find the program useful.)
You can download Unzip Them All from http://www.herve-thouzard.com/unzinst.zip
Once the file is downloaded, navigate to the download folder and double-click the file to open it. Install the software.

To use the program to unzip your files, double-click the program icon to open it.
Set up the options by choosing View > Options > Extraction Options.
Check "Extract files into current folder." Click OK. This keeps the software from nesting the downloads into an extra folder.

On the Options screen, tick "Delete Files after decompression" if you donít want to save the zipped version of the file. This saves you the time it takes to manually delete them.
I also tick "Overwrite files" because I sometimes accidentally download the same file twice. This feature overwrites the original download. You may like "Beep at the end" which lets you know that the operation is complete.
Keep "Automatically select all files" and "Restore last working folder" ticked, especially if you have a folder specifically set up for downloads.
Click OK. This is a one-time set-up. You wonít need to change these settings each time you use the program unless you need to change the options.

Use the "Select drive" drop-down menu at the top to navigate to the folder where you have downloaded your purchases. The zipped files within that folder will be automatically selected.
You can Ctrl click (Mac: Cmd click) to deselect any of the files you donít want to unzip. You can also use the buttons at the bottom to Unselect or Select all of the files.
With the files selected, click Start.
The software will unzip all of the files into your selected folder and delete the zipped versions.
You can always retrieve the zipped files from the recycle bin (until you empty the trash) if you have a problem and need them again.

I have used this software for several years and have enjoyed the ease of unzipping my digital scrapbooking purchases with one click. I hope you'll find it useful, too.
