• Aligning Images in Photoshop and Elements

Today’s tip is an answer to a question that came up on our Message Boards this week: how to perfectly align two or more layers. This is especially useful when you are matting a photo or element on your digital project.

To align objects, open two or more images in Photoshop or Elements and use the Move tool to drag them onto your digital canvas.

Holding the Ctrl key (Mac: Cmd key) select the layers you want to align in the Layers Panel.

Get the Move tool and click both the Align Vertical Centers icon and Align Horizontal centers icon in the Options Bar across the top of the screen.

This will arrange your objects so that they are perfectly centered on top of one another.

Using the same technique, you can align objects by any of the four edges: top, bottom, left or right sides by clicking on the icon in the Options bar.
