When I grow up, I want to use brushes like Debbie (dfwest) does. Her signature style is almost a textbook in the skillful manipulation of brushes to support a page; every layout is worthy of study. When Debbie began posting her Days of December pages, I fell in love instantly. They’re clever, whimsical, and brush-filled. Even though the challenge was a little intimidating, Brenda, Liz T, and I took it on. Here’s how Debbie inspired us.
Brenda’s (bbe) page tells the story of an annual Christmas event that always gets her into the spirit of the season. I love the visual triangle of nutcrackers that grounds her design and the pops of red and green on her page.

Liz (lizziet5) focused on a single day – Christmas Eve – and journaled about why it’s her favorite day of the season. She channeled Debbie perfectly in her brushwork, and that string of lights is a great touch.

Like Liz, I went photo-less for my design. As I thought about my page, I kept coming back to the idea of how busy December is. So I embraced the idea and centered in on a calendar of the month and all the accompanying activities.
