I have a long-standing love affair with letters, words, fonts, and alphabets, so I was instantly attracted to Kacy’s (Crafty Kacy) clever page Things We Learn from Dogs. I love the way she mixed word art, word strips, and elements to journal in such an inventive way. My fellow Creative Team members and I were eager to take inspiration from Kacy’s page.
Merr (digigrandma) used a sentiment she found on a card as her primary journaling, and she located part of it right on her photo, a technique that always appeals to me. She extended her journaling and her color scheme with a series of word art elements that help to frame the cute photo of her grandsons. What a great salute to little boys and summer!

Liz (lizziet5) also used an adorable black and white photo of her two grandsons on a mostly monochromatic page with pops of turquoise and gold. I love how she centered the photo between two text blocks on a band at the top of the page, leaving room for a big title and journaling beneath. It’s always a blessing when siblings get along with one another.

There must have been a grandson vibe across the globe this week because I, too, used a picture of my grandson and his Pap Pap from grandparents’ day a couple of years ago. I had a lot of fun looking through Katie’s great school kits for words, word art, and elements for my subway art. It’s hard to beat those primary colors.
