Saturday Scraplift: Tuck It in a Corner

I’ve gone and done it again – been entranced by a page that features strong lines! I loved so many elements of Julie’s (MaggieMae) apple page the moment I saw it: the corner she created for her photo with paper strips and cut ups, the slide frames, the corner banner, and the clever brushwork. I could go on and on! Two of our Guest CTs, Maureen and Deborrah, joined me in lifting Julie’s great page. Get ready to be inspired!

Julie’s page

I love how Maureen (maureenreynolds) riffed on Julie’s apple theme, albeit a different type of apple! She created a corner inspired by Julie’s design, included a picture of herself in the slide frame, and still had plenty of room for a larger shot of her and her prize-winning “Apple.” She cleverly used a trio of apple elements to guide the viewer’s eye around her page.

Deborrah (DivaMom96) also took inspiration from Julie’s use of slide frames by creating an interesting corner element from two of them. I love how the detail shots in the slide frames perfectly complement the larger photo and help to tell the story of her adventurous sons and a friendly squirrel.

I loved Julie’s design so much that I made very few changes in it. I did indulge myself in one of my favorite techniques – a page within a page – by using several background layers and reducing the size of my canvas. I also had fun selecting a combination of brushes to ground my page.

There’s no end to the inspiration you’ll find in Julie’s page, and I’m eager to see how you translate it onto your own design. Remember to post your lift in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery as well as in the September Challenge Participation Sign-in thread in the forum. Happy scrapping!
