Saturday Scraplift: Cutting on the Bias

Good morning and happy royal wedding day! I know I was not the only one that got up a wee bit early here in the states to watch all the festivities! That’s also why this post is a little later than usual…..priorities and all. 🙂

So this week, I chose a page from Arte Banale (Agnieszka) who always can wow me with her designs but really caught my eye with the angles she highlighted in this page. I love how the background edges are on the bias but the photo is straight which brings the eye to the beautiful scenery in the photo. The stitching also adds to the bias design perfectly.

I enlisted some help this week from a couple team members as well. First up is Deborah Wagner. Deborah used this fabulous photo of her dogs fighting for Alex’s attention. I love how she broke the grid by extracting Capone from the photo and the angles totally work with the fun photo. Working with angles can be a bit challenging but Deborah made them work perfectly and they add whimsy to her design.

Grandma Lynnie (Lynn) also played along this week and when she saw the inspiration page, immediately thought of this delightful angled photo. Love how she still mixed up the background papers. And how cute are those flower crowns? 🙂

Finally, here’s my contribution. I’m exceptionally bad at taking selfies, luckily my daughter is a pro. We went out to dinner on the way home from college dorm move out and the Rhododendrons were gorgeous! I decided to shrink the design a bit and I like how it turned out (and my daughter approved of the page as well so there’s that.)

I hope you give angles a go this week. The bias really is a striking design element. I look froward to seeing your pages in the gallery! Remember to post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge gallery as well as in the May Challenge Participation Sign-in thread in the forum. Have a wonderful weekend!
