Saturday Scraplift Challenge: Dotty for Circles

Welcome to this week’s Saturday Scraplift Challenge! This week we’re lifting this wonderful page by Sarah (sterkeurs). There’s so much to love here. Firstly, the great design with the cleverly ‘punched’ and shadowed backdrop. I’ve wanted to try this technique for a while so I checked out this video tutorial by Sara to achieve the same look. The sweet black and white photo shines beautifully with the pretty little elements scattered casually and the yellow and grey colour combination that makes this page pop. Stunning!

Deborrah (DivaMom96) was quick to jump in on the challenge. Inspired to use a brush, I like how Deborrah’s circles cascade down the right side of the page while the cute photo is anchored down with a few pretty flowers and a flair. Deborrah’s certainly ahead of the game with this gorgeous Autumnal page!

Julie (MaggieMae) arranged her circles in an orderly manner, coordinating her choice of pretty detail with the delightful image. I love the repetition of flairs, bows, flowers and cute epoxies, and the curly ribbon adds depth to Julie’s lift. So sweet!

I love that Agnieszka (Arte Banale) was inspired to carry the circles through to her photo for her lift by using a circular frame. The teal, navy blue and lime green colour palette works so well against the backdrop and I love the mix of brush work and pencil framing. Lastly, the word art slips into the design so nicely. Beautiful!

I was inspired by Sarah’s page to scrap this image of Hayley – an image I wouldn’t have readily scrapped left to my own devices but the circles made me think of the hand/foot holds (or whatever they’re called!) on the wall. And I certainly wouldn’t have thought to ‘punch’ my own backdrop! That’s what I love about the SSL… I always complete a page that’s been inspired by another creative who has encouraged me to think a little differently about my lift that I would never have thought up myself!
