Saturday Scraplift: Centering on Design

Left-brained as I am, I am drawn to symmetry. I think that’s probably what first caught my eye about Erin’s (Ernie88) great page – that and those adorable little faces. I loved how she showcased those photos by grounding them on the pretty patterned paper (another love of mine!). Addie and Liz joined me in taking inspiration from Erin’s page.

Erin’s page

Addie (agoymerac), one of our talented Guest Creative Team members, expanded the central panels to four to accommodate the number of her fur babies – aren’t they cute? She kept her color scheme neutral to complement the colors of their fur and completed her design with paw print patterned paper choices and brush work. I also really like that twine tie on her title.

Liz’s (lizziet5) pretty-in-purple page spoke to me immediately – she knows the way to my heart! How clever of her to repeat the sweet photo of her daughter and grandsons with minor repositioning to make it appear at first glance to be three different photos. Her design draws the eye across the page by means of her top cluster, bead scatterings, and word strips at the bottom.

Except for employing the page-within-a-page technique, I stayed fairly true to Erin’s design to scrap some sunset shots from our 2017 beach trip. It’s not usually a good idea to shoot into the sun, but when you want awesome silhouette photos, it’s the ticket. And I found the perfect readymade borders by Kayleigh in exactly the right colors. Serendipity!

I can’t wait to see how Erin’s page inspires you – it’s full of ideas. Remember to post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge gallery as well as in the November Challenge Participation Sign-in thread in the forum. Happy scrapping!
