Saturday Scraplift: Breaking the Grid

Hello Friends! Welcome to this week’s Saturday Scraplift. Today we are lifting one of my favorite scrappers. Her pages always seem to catch my eye. I hope you all will find some inspiration either in the design of Deanie’s page, or in scrapping some Halloween photos after seeing her cute page.

jack-o-lantern1I just loved this page. I always say that I lean towards grunge, but I think I also secretly love a grid. 🙂 So the way Deanie broke the grid by carrying her title and embellishments over the paper divide and the angles she used for her photo and journaling just really spoke to me. She also used paint and bead scatterings to “loosen up the grid” as well. It all works really well. Not to mention that pumpkin is really well carved!

So here’s my take on her page. I have to tell you, I’ve never actually copied a color scheme before. And I never would’ve because that burnt orange is not normally a color I like, but my sister sent me this selfie with my son when she chauffeured him around Nashville for a NROTC event that he attended at Vanderbilt University, and the page just kind of made itself.  I deliberately split the grid with my photo and made sure to angle a few items and soften edges with brushes and elements from one of Kayleigh’s amazing templates (she packs so much product into those templates!)
