Saturday Scraplift: Amping Up the Energy

How’s your new year going? There’s something about turning the calendar to a new year that increases our energy level and puts a crackle in the air. When I saw the page Deborrah (DivaMom96) did for the Liz’s New Year’s Challenge, I really loved the energy she achieved with her fun tilted photo, brushwork, and color choices. Shannon, DeLisa, Rachael, and I took inspiration from Deborrah’s page, and I hope you will, too.

Deborrah’s page:

Shannon’s (shannonroller) page is a celebration of enduring love, and her element and color choices extend that theme while also highlighting a picture of the happy couple. The florals and soft pinks echo Mrs. Snowberry’s dress, and the jaunty title and wooden accents give the page increased texture.

Rachael’s (myssp) fun photo just screams to be scrapped, and she did a wonderful job building her page around it. The pink elements draw the viewer’s eye to the wild hair sported by her son and granddaughter, and the pops of black make the appropriate word art stand out. That gold glitter just makes me want to celebrate!

DeLisa (DELISAK) was inspired by Deborrah’s New Year’s theme and found some photos of her daughter ringing in the new year with her own fun glasses. The red striped paper and DeLisa’s well-chosen brushwork add excitement and movement to her energetic page. Blending her large focal photo gave her room for three additional detail shots.

I went for a more subdued look on my page, but hey, I did tilt the camera when I took the photo, which is not usual for me. I was inspired by the way Deborrah snuggled elements, brushwork, and her title near her photo for a tight design. Then, of course, I had to add a little sparkle with the bits of blue glitter.

As we begin 2017, I hope you’ll be inspired to examine Deborrah’s page and let it guide your creativity for a page of your own. Remember to post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery as well as in the January 2017 Challenges Sign-in Thread in the forum. Happy scrapping and happy new year!
