Saturday Scraplift: A Patchwork Quilt

I love quilts; I think it’s the geometric shapes and combination of colors, but I’ve always loved them. I’m not a quilter, but it’s easy enough to create a quilt design with digital supplies. That’s probably why I was immediately drawn to Celina’s (CelinaT) sweet page about a conversation with her sister a few weeks before her wedding. The strong horizontal line of quilted triangles and hexagonal photo pairs nicely with the vertical line of journaling and brushwork. Here’s how Celina’s page inspired Brenda, Elisabeth, and me.

Celina’s page:

ChristinaMeBeforeWeddingWEB I adore Brenda’s (bbe) mostly monochromatic page, including the photo of that little munchkin. The pops of red are just the right touch, and that poem will surely tug at the heartstrings of every grandma. I really like how the brushwork around the photo overlaps it ever so slightly.

Elisabeth’s (lego) cute page should get us all in the holiday spirit with its crisp aqua and red color scheme and its generous sprinkling of snowflakes. I like that the song lyrics lead the viewer’s eye straight to that great black and white family photo.

Although my design took on a life of its own, it was definitely inspired by Celina’s page. I originally had the hexagons in two straight lines on the green band but felt the page needed some movement and whimsy. I was much happier when I staggered them across the corner.
