Let’s Blend Challenge – Building Backgrounds

Happy May and welcome to this month’s Let’s Blend Challenge! I have been having fun with different textures and paint to create more interesting backgrounds for my blended images. You can see one of the backgrounds below. I started with Grunge Source Beneath Walls No. 1 and then added Touch Up Paint No. 4, Frosted Winter Paint No. 5. I felt like this was a good start to the base, so I then began building my page.

After playing with a little more paint and elements here is the end result:

Products used: Grunge Source: Beneath Walls Paper Pack, Katie Pertiet:  Touch Up Paint No. 7, Frosted Winter: Paint, Gesso No. 4, Urban Naturalist Blendable Layers No. 5, Worth Repeating No. 25

You can see how building up the background adds visual interest and a bit of depth. Katie has provided a freebie packet to help you get started on building your own backgrounds.

Remember to post your pages in the Mask Appeal Challenge Gallery and don’t forget when you use ALL DD products on your challenge page. You should post a link of your page in the May Challenge Participation thread so that it will count toward your savings in the rewards program. Have fun!
