itunes: Lazy days of summer

Heya, it’s July and it’s time for another itunes challenge. We’re into the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer and it seems like I always have a house full of kids. Luckily they’re all playing outside and the sun is shining, so I’m getting to scrap! I love scrapping beach photos, and when I saw this album cover the background reminded me of sand, with the blue of the sea below.

When I chose the cover, one of the first things I noticed was that the background contains a photo: I’m a big fan of a large photo. That was one thing I wished I could do in my paper scrapping days.  I also love that the front photo is black and white, and the bold title is fun; I can see a title being created using plastic letters.

The creative team were jumping to get involved with this challenge! First of all we have Kathy, who’s created a page with gorgeous brushwork.

I adore the gradient of colours down the page. The torn edges add interest while creating a softer link to the brushwork than a straight edge would. Kathy used Curated Team Scrapbook Mix No. 10 Value Pack; Great Getaway Element Pack; Golden Pretty Element Pack; Watchet Element Pack; Torn Templates No. 02
; ARTpack Photographer Brushes and Stamps No. 01; Keystrike Sentiment Clusters Brushes and Stamps No. 01; Defining Grunge Brushes and Stamps No. 03

Next up, Lori Ann was inspired to create a page about one of the best ways to spend a summer’s day. I can see where she got her inspiration, with the 3D title and blended background, while the angled photos add fun.

Lori Ann used challenge freebies and Hand Scripted Summer Brushes and Stamps No. 02.

Finally Deborrah took the chance to tell a ‘fun’ story from a recent trip! I love that she has a photo to go along with it. I’m not sure I’d have been smiling, but the story at least has a happy ending. The angled strip behind the photo draws your eye across from the title to the story, very clever.

Deborrah used Great Getaway Dots and Stripes Paper Pack; Maybe Not Solids Paper Pack; Maybe Not Element Pack; Moonlight Dreams Element Pack; Life Lines Element Pack; Pinned: Wood Veneers No. 02

Now it’s your turn, show us your pages inspired by the album cover. Katie’s generously provided a freebie for the challenge to get you started.

Post your layouts in the iTunes Inspiration gallery. Remember to keep track of your pages for our challenges in the participation thread, because this can earn you store vouchers if you use 100 % Designer Digitals products.

Happy scrapping!

I must have had a premonition. My layout from Saturday would totally fit the bill for this challenge.
