Getting Artsy: Blending modes

Hello once again. It’s time for another artsy challenge, I hope I can convince you to join in! I wanted to keep it fairly simple so I am only asking you to use a blending mode somewhere on your page. I can spend a lot of time going through the different modes and trying out the look I will achieve with each one. Just in case you are not familiar with them, go check them out. You will find them on top of your layers palette (in PS). It’s set to normal by default and when you click the little arrow next to it, you will see all kinds of options. Just go ahead and play, you will be surprised at the results 🙂
Katie was kind enough to create a little sampler of goodies for us, you can grab it here
I also have a few examples to show you:
Chrissy put together this adorable page and she used quite a few blending modes. I will let her explain what she did when she posts her page.
Trace achieved the gorgeous colors of the hearts and the mask by setting her blending modes to multiply. Beautiful, isn’t it?
Here is one by Esther. You’ll be amazed at how much blending is going on here!
I really like what she was able to achieve!
This last one is by me
I did a lot of playing around myself. The frame is set to hard mix, the large photo is in overlay mode. The overlay is set to lighter color and I lowered the opacity and erased what I didn’t want to show.
Try it out yourself, you have until the 17th to get your page posted, so there is plenty of time.
Oh yes and before I forget, if you use all Designer Digital products, you will have a chance to win a $ 5 GC to the store. The winner is chosen by random drawing. Come on and get artsy with us!! Please post your finished pages in the Artsy Challenge Gallery , so I’ll be able to find them 🙂
