Halloween is just a few weeks away. Pumpkins and halloween decorations are everywhere I go. I wanted to do a non-traditional Halloween color challenge this month. I found a few inspiration pieces and went from there!
At first I (KimR+) honestly didn’t know what I was going to create with these colors. I pulled up a photo from last Halloween and placed a black and white action on it to make it work for the color challenge. I enjoyed finding the various green and black items in the store. One thing I really enjoy is using the Star Glows brushes over dark paper. It really pops! The shape of the cupcakes and apples inspired me to use a round photo frame. Supplies used: All Tricked Out Overlays, ARToptions Wicked No 1, Batty Halloween Clusters Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Batty Mini Mix Solids Paper Pack, Best of 2017 Brushes and Stamps, Color Me Happy Element Pack, Defining Paint Blends: Happy, Flossy Stitches: Green, Mary Jane Spots Paper Pack, Mary Jane Stripes Paper Pack, Messy Stitched Borders: Green No. 01, Pebbled Ledger Alphabet No. 02, Recolte Chalked Element Pack, Round Vintage Photo Frame Stacks No. 01, Shimmer Splatters No. 01, Simple Classics Christmas Kit, Star Glows Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Vintage Halloween Sentiment Tapes No. 01, Vintage Halloween Tickets No. 01, Hand Scripted Halloween Brushes and Stamps No. 01
Kate (OKate) created a fabulous fall page with fresh apples from her local farmers market. I love the different pattern papers Kate incorporated into her page. The simple wooden elements remind me of the caramel on the apples in the inspiration photo.
Supplies used: Layer Works No. 004, Black, White and Lime Kit, Black, Creme and Red Kit, Black, White and Turquoise Kit, Forever Fresh Paper Pack, Apple Cider Mini Kit, Cully Element Pack, Golden Pretty Element Pack, Adventuring Scrapbooking Collection, Color Study: Green Paper Pack, Textured Whites Paper Pack No. 01, Game Cards: Months, Basic Tags No. 01, Scrollie Arrows Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Mary Jane Stripes Paper Pack
Hopefully this challenge hasn’t left you hungry for Halloween candy or caramel apples, but rather an itch to create a page with green and black…and maybe a bowl of treats while you scrap! I hope you take the chance to play along with this months color challenge. Katie has generously provided us with a freebie to get you jump started on this challenge even more! When you complete your page, post them in the Color Challenge Gallery for everyone to see! If your page qualifies for the rewards program, then don’t forget to link up your page in the October Participation thread for proper credit.
