Color Spots Scrapbook Challenge: Deep and Dark

Welcome to another Color Spots Scrapbook Challenge!

Here in the northern hemisphere, we are ‘rapidly declining into fall.’ (**Read the journaling on Debi’s page below and you’ll see what I mean…. 🙂 ) This new season brings forth the deep, dark, rich color tones that I really love.  We’re going to play with them in this challenge!

Deep and Dark

I love the deep purples in this beautiful inspiration photo, but any ‘deep dark’ colors would do….and the little hint of almost neutral yellow in the background is a nice balancing touch. Any kind of neutral/almost neutral background or accents with a rich primary color scheme would work for this challenge… would a page that stays ‘deep and dark’ throughout!

Here is some inspiration from our Creative Team to get your wheels turning:

Deep and Dark Linda

Linda created a two page spread (you’ll be able to see both pages in the gallery) that is now on my ‘lift list.’ She took the rich tones of her beloved noles’ uniforms to create a deep dark background for her multiphoto layout. So classy! Linda’s supplies include: Scrap Express No. 153 and Steam Friends Kit from Lynn Grieveson; Classic Cardstock Faded Rose Garden Paper Pack, Ticketed Sentiments No. 1, Alphabet Soup, Flourishing Leaves No. 4 and Drop Shadow Styles No. 2 by Katie Pertiet; Just Chevrons No. 7 from Maplebrook Studios; Toothy No. 3 Paper Pack by Cathy Zielske; and How’d They Do That? No.19 Recoloring Essentials by Cassie Jones.

Deep and Dark Kim

Kim was inspired by the ‘plum and mustard’ (doesn’t that sound tasty? 😉 ) color scheme of the original inspiration photo and stuck with that to create one of her classic layered masterpieces featuring the absolutely adorable Kira.  Kim’s supply list: Growing Up Hand Drawn Brushes and Love Circles by Ali Edwards; Artsy Botanical Cerrel Value Pack, Banner Strips No. 1, Bead Scatterings No. 1, Bexley Element Pack, Carte Post Element Pack, Decorative White Photo Frames No. 1, Digitally Pressed Petals No. 4, Digitally Pressed Petals No. 5, Finley Element Pack, Frightful Paper Pack, In Stitches Circles No. 1, Letter Box Colors Mustard Paper Pack, Polar Mountain Element Pack, Red Black and Creme Kit, Scalloped Photo Masks, Shimmer Splatters No. 1, Spring Fields Paper Pack, Stitched Circles Clean and Messy White No. 1 Value Pack, Summer Gardens Element Pack, Twisted Dots No. 1, Wire Rimmed Charms No. 1 and Yesteryear Add On Lace by Katie Pertiet; Awanui Paper Pack and Nature’s Best Flowers from Lynn Grieveson; Just Tonals Paper Pack No. 6, Kotteder Kit, Ryan Paper Pack and Ryan Solids Paper Pack by Maplebrook Studios.

Deep and Dark Debi

And Debi’s page…well, being from Minnesota, I’ve got a very special connection to this one. Debi’s California girl has recently arrived to join us on the tundra. We think it’s actually still a little too warm in September, but Shannon  has her own perspective. This page is so classically creative–the painted mask clipped to the wood veneer leaf is a stroke of genius, in my opinion. 🙂 Debi used these digital supplies: Corby Solids Paper Pack, Corby Elements, Flourishing Leaves No. 4, Wood Veneer Leaves No. 1, Painted Photo Masks Brushes and Stamps No. 4, Watery Spots Brushes and Stamps No. 10, Pinned Enamel Stars No. 1 and File Label Sentiments No. 1 by Katie Pertiet and Five W 3×4 Journal Cards Brushes and Stamps by Ali Edwards.

I look forward to seeing a bevy of deep and dark, rich toned pages in the Color Challenge Gallery! And don’t forget….We have a new rewards program now for participation in our challenges!
