For the past few weeks, I’ve been sorting through boxes of old photos that I have inherited. As I looked at photo after photo, I began comparing the life depicted in those photos with modern day life. I was struck by how similar yet dissimilar life then and now can be. It was then that I got the idea for this month’s Heritage Challenge—a comparison of then and now.
CT members Paula , Steph and I have taken the challenge and created three layouts highlighting some interesting similarities and differences. We hope you will enjoy our examples and be inspired to create your own comparison layout.
Steph chose her and her daughter’s interest in Barbies as the topic for her layout. I love her combination of photos and journalling to tell her story.

One of the photos I inherited was this one of my grandfather. I thought of my Air Force son and the differences in their military experiences.

If you are inspired by these layouts and this challenge, we would love to see your layouts in the
Heritage Gallery. I can foresee lots of topics for these comparisons—food, cars, clothes, entertainment, then and now. Or maybe comparison photos of you and your child or grandchild-school, toys, daily life. Maybe celebrating holidays past and present. Whatever your idea, we’d love to have you share with us.
