How do I install fonts on my Windows system?

Begin by downloading and saving the font file.  Make note of the location.  Downloading to your desktop is a good idea for easy access.

Windows Vista:

1. To extract the file, right click on the zip file you have downloaded.
2. Left click “Extract All” from the menu.
3. Select a destination to extract your files by clicking the “Browse” button.
4. Left click on “Desktop” or other easily accessible location, then click OK.
6. When the “Select a destination” screen pops up,  click “Extract”.
7. Close any open windows and return to the location of the extracted file.
9. Right click on the font File and select "install" from the menu.
12. When the “Windows needs your permission to continue" screen pops up, select “Continue”.
13. The font will be installed to your system.
14.  To confirm that the font is installed, open your control panel and find the "fonts" folder to locate the file.
Note:  some software programs require you to restart  before using the font.

Windows XP/2000:

1. Click on the Start button at the bottom left corner of your screen.
2. Click “Control Panel”.
If you are using Windows 2000, click “Settings” to access the control panel.
3. Double Click the Fonts Folder.
Note: if you are working in XP with Appearance & Themes, click on “Appearance & Themes”. The Fonts folder is on the left side of the window.
4. In the Fonts folder choose “File” from the Menu, then choose “Install new fonts”
5. In the Add Fonts window, navigate to the font file you have downloaded and extracted (unzipped.)
6. Double click Fonts
7. Choose “Select all” to select all of the highlighted fonts.
8. Click “OK."  The install bar indicates the progress.
9. Once installed in your Fonts folder, your fonts will automatically appear in your applications.
