Using the Note tool in Photoshop (full version)

I'll admit it: I love Post-it notes! I have a drawer full of them in all shapes and sizes. There’s something so irresistible about those little stickies! They are just right for jotting notes, marking pages and jogging my failing memory.

I'm just as crazy about the Note tool in Photoshop. Hidden underneath the Eyedropper tool, this little tool is a gem. You can access the Note tool three ways:

1.   Click and hold the Eyedropper tool in the Tools panel, then choose the Note tool.
2.   Right-click the Eyedropper tool and choose the Note tool
3.   Press N on your keyboard

With the Note tool selected, click to stick a note to your project. I like to stick my Note inside the project window but outside of the document. That way I can still see my page intact, but my notes are saved.

When you add a note, the Note panel opens. Click inside the Notes panel to jot down things you’d like to remember about your page like kit credits, techniques used, or even ideas for other projects.

In the Options bar, you can even change the color of your sticky note! This is especially handy if you want to add one note for credits and another color note for techniques.

Save your document as a Photoshop File to save your notes for another session.
