Making Layer Panel Thumbnails Easier to See in Photoshop or PSE

When you are working on a template or other Photoshop document with a number of layers, the default settings make it very difficult (if not impossible!) to see which item is on each layer. Instead of straining your eyes or playing a game of “hunt and click,” you can change the Layers panel settings so that the layer contents are visible at a glance.

To find the Layers panel options in Photoshop or Elements, click the down-arrow at the top right corner of the Layers panel title bar. Choose Panel Options from the drop-down menu.

Under Thumbnail size, tick the largest thumbnail at the bottom.

Under Thumbnail contents, tick Layer Bounds.

Click OK.

Now instead of seeing a small item on the entire document as a thumbnail, you’ll see a just what is on that layer.  Your eyes will thank you!
