How can I install layer styles (ASL or .asl) in PSE6, PSE7, PSE8 or PSE9 on a Mac? |
|||||
Start with your main hard drive and then go to the Library folder. There are three different Library folders on your Mac: One is in your user account. You don't want this. Path is
/Users/yourusername/Library One is in System-Library. You don't want this
either. Path is /System/Library One is in "Your hard drive"->Library which is directly on root. You know that by clicking on the folder and choose "Get info". If the path starts with /Library, then you are on the root Library folder. This is the Library folder you want. There are two possible places to paste the layer style depending on your system: 1. Library>Application Support>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>6.0>Photo Library>Creations>Layer Styles 2. Library > Application Support > Adobe > Photoshop Elements > 6.0 > Locale > en_US > Photo Creations > Layer Styles *Note: replace 6.0 with 7, 8, or 9 if you are installing more current versions of Elements. Change the name of the mediadatabase.db3 file here: Library>Application Support>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>6.0>Locale>En US It doesn’t matter what you rename it. You can call it mediadatabaseOLD.db3 if you like - you are just renaming it to save a copy of it.
Open PSE and wait for it to rebuild the mediadatabase. Then you can find the Style under "Show All." |
