Shortcuts for Changing Text in Photoshop and Elements

Article Details

When you want to make changes to text on a digital project, there are a couple of shortcuts that will save you some time and a lot of frustration.  The easiest way to select and highlight your text is to double-click the text icon which looks like a T in the text layer of the layers panel. Doing this selects the Type tool and highlights your text so that you can replace the wording.

When the text is highlighted, press the left arrow key to position your cursor at the beginning of the text or press the right arrow key to position your cursor at the end of the text. Doing this selects the Type tool and allows you to add to the existing text without replacing it.

This is especially helpful when you are using a layered template or “recycling” one of your own layouts for another purpose.
