The popularity column is NOT how many items have sold but a ranking of the item in the store according to sales. The lower the number the higher that item has sold. The search results allow you to sort by that column just by clicking on the title. Click on the same title again to reverse the sort. The popularity number is updated daily.

With that, the item with a popularity of 1 is the BEST selling item in the store. The item with the HIGHEST number is the LOWEST selling item.
