This mini-lesson consists of three parts. In the first part, I teach you how to create a “virtual room” with a piece of patterned paper. In the second part, you will learn how to create a custom shadow for an image. In the third part, I will teach you how to distort that shadow and make it appear cast across the virtual floor and up the virtual wall.

You will learn how to:

  • use perspective to create a “virtual room”
  • make selections to duplicate specific portions of a layer
  • place and resize objects on a page
  • create custom shadows for an element
  • distort shadows to show perspective
  • This lesson includes:

    • A 5-page, full-color pdf with screen shots (in PS CS3) and step-by-step instructions for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users.
    • The “Coffee Shop” paper pack with 5 patterned papers and one digital rub-on, all designed by Katie Pertiet

    You will need:
    Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements
    Adobe Acrobat

    Difficulty:
While I do provide every step necessary to complete the techniques, it is helpful to have some experience with opening and closing files and a basic knowledge of the Photoshop or Photoshop Elements workspace.

I am so stoked! I have wanted to know how to make shadows for so long and now I did it!!! Cassie's tutorial is awesome! I followed the directions step by step and it was fairly easy. Thank you Cassie for improving my photoshop skills! Keep the wonderful tutorials coming! (I have five of them now and they are all easy to understand and well worth the purchase!)

I did it!!... and I am definitely a novice. Instructions are very clear. I did have a slight problem because of my inexperience. I e-mailed an Cassie walked me through my problem. What more can you ask? Great job?
