Hiding the Highlight at DesignerDigitals The pumpkins are on the front porch, but the Halloween candy hasn't been bought yet. Waiting until the last minute on that one so I don't eat any of it! lol! So we're just about ready for all the Halloween activities of this coming week and then it will be on to Christmas! Yes, I know, it seems so soon but heck, the stores have had Christmas merchandise out for what seems like months already and it makes me want to decorate the house early! But in between all the decorating and preparations, the designers kept busy with over 40 new items in the store for you this weekend! Congratulations to Shannamay who won week 2 of the Double-D Scrap Challenge! Week 3 is about to close with our CT voting for that and a winner should be announced by this coming Wednesday. Week 4 is the last week for this contest and is still open as well as the month one so lets keep those great layouts coming! Have you seen our Digital Scrapbooking Video Tips and Tricks on YouTube yet? There is a lot of great information in these video's to help out with all kinds of situations in Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Make sure to join us on Facebook, Twitter and Flicker for news, challenges and our Daily Photo events! And we have the updated product spreadsheet with all the items to help with your layout post linking which you can find in the gallery/forum. And, of course, we have 2 NEW 25 cent items for today and tomorrow ONLY! Don't Miss them!
Have you seen our latest e-book yet? Debbie and her members did a great job with this! Embellishing with Alphas is about embellishing in general and alphas in particular. In this e-ideabook, you'll learn design principles for scrapbook page embellishment WHILE finding loads of inspiration for using alphabets as monograms on your digital projects. Writer, scrapbooker, and teacher Debbie Hodge worked with DesignerDigitals CT members to create an ideabook for the scrapbooker who wants to make beautiful pages that use product in support of story and photos. The e-book format offers internal linking (i.e., "see that principle applied here . . . and here . . .") as well as external linking to products in the DesignerDigitals store. The high-resolution pdf format is suitable for printing on 8.5" x 11" paper and presents all examples in sharp detail.
Make sure to see our Kits for a Cause. HOPE, a collaborative kit, is available in the store until December 25th when all proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Adobe Photoshop Tip of the Week: Hidden Meaning, How to hide the highlight on selected type in Photoshop You can also watch this tip on video on our blog: Digital Scrapbooking Tips and Tricks: Hiding the Highlight on selected type in Photoshop [Video] This is the time of year when children attend parties and come around to our homes, hidden behind costumes of every sort. These costumes can make it difficult to see who lurks beneath. You might be able to guess or you might have to ask them to lift their mask so that you can identify the sweet face underneath. When you are working with text in Photoshop, getting the text tool and highlighting the text allows you to do a number of things like change the color, size, or even the font. But the highlight on the text is like a Halloween mask. It makes it difficult to see what the text looks like underneath. Pressing Ctrl + H (Mac: Cmd + H) on your keyboard allows you to hide the highlight on the text, so you can clearly see what the effect will look like on your project as you apply it. To see your text in a different font, first highlight your text, then highlight the font name in the Options Bar and press the arrow keys on your keyboard. If you take the extra step to hide the highlight on the text, you can clearly see how your text will appear on your project. Have a great week and we'll see you at DesignerDigitals!
