While traveling in Tunisia last year, our guide took us to this American Military Cemetery. It was one of the most touching sites I've ever visited. 2,841 young American WWII servicemen and women are buried here, so far from home. It was a beautifully designed and well kept memorial to these brave souls.
The closeup of the headstone is that of a serviceman named Benjamin Jackson of Florida.
The photo is my Uncle Johnny who served in Italy and most thankfully survived. One of my journal entries says "someday I'll tell you about the war". He always said that, but never did tell us. It must have been very painful.
