I had skipped December 8, so here it is. TFL!

Journaling: I think that I could sing before I could talk, I have often heard stories of my parents calling me out in front of company to sing a Gaelic song as a three year old. And the singing and performances didn't stop there. They were very proud of my voice and often wanted to share it. I sang at my church from about age 5 and continued in one way or another for the next 20 years, music is a BIG part of me so one of my favorite Christmas memories of growing up was when my mom and I would go on a yearly trip with our church's folk group to a local retirement home for nuns and would go from room to room singing to these wonderful women. They ran the gamut from bright and cheerful, so happy to see us, and singing along to the poor women who just didn't know that we were there. But going there and sharing our gifts with them at such a joyful and blessed time of year was so special, it was what Christmas is all about, giving of yourself and reaching out to others who need you with a smile on your face and a kind word or song on your lips. I am very happy that I have this memory with my mom and I hope that I can in turn share something like this with my daughter.
