Mom's Christmas Decorating
Inspired by the 12.07.08 Color and Journaling challenges, I've started on a series of layouts chronicling favorite holiday memories. This particular page probably won't make the final cut because it's not really consistent with the other layouts in its design aesthetic (those being much more clean and simple), but, having only recently purchased Anna's template, I couldn't resist the urge to give it a trial run, just to give myself some idea of how I might want to use it for future projects.
"MY FIRST CHRISTMAS AND ALREADY ENCHANTED BY MOM'S CHRISTMAS DECORATING"
My mother has traditionally gone all-out in decorating for the holiday season, each December transforming her home into what, as children, my brother and I certainly saw as a Christmas Wonderland. The centerpiece in those years was always a freshly-cut tree, glowing with the light of countless brightly-colored bulbs, festooned with a dazzling and seemingly endless array of shiny (and oh-so-fragile) vintage glass ornaments, and curtained by cascades of sparkling silver "icicle tinsel," painstakingly applied strand-by-strand. I can't recall what year it was, but I can still vividly recall the enormous sense of pride I felt the Christmas that Mom decided I was finally old enough to be trusted with her most delicate decorations and allowed me to help her dress the tree in its holiday finery--such a thrill!
