Some of my most vivid childhood memories are of our house all decked out for Christmas. There was always a freshly-cut tree, wound with delicate glass-beaded garlands and hung with a seeming endless variety of colorful and equally delicate glass ornaments, and cascades of even more fragile leaf-thin silver tinsel painstakingly applied by my mother (never more than two or three strands at a time!). Needless to say, when I came across these photos from my first Christmas in my mom's stash, showing me beside the tree, as well as in front of the traditional Christmas card display, I couldn't resist!
