You were born October 31, 2007, at [omitted] Hospital in
[omitted], IL. I went into labor sometime the day before, while
completing the trim on the valance for your room. I wasn’t certain
labor had truly begun, but I wanted to accomplish as much as possible, just in case. I experienced an overwhelming urge to tidy the house, pack my hospital bag, and even hang the curtains in the nursery (your dad was not thrilled with that)! It was a long night of timing contractions and little sleep; it was silly of me to think I might sleep through it. The next day we went to see my doctors, and they sent us along to the hospital, where we paced the delivery floor to help things move along. Dr [omitted] checked on us periodically until it was delivery time, and your dad couldn’t believe how she sat casually at the end of the bed in high heels with her legs crossed, to help deliver you. You arrived at 11:05 that evening; you almost missed your first Halloween! You had a full head of very dark brown hair, like your Dad, and grey-blue eyes, like your Mom. Dad took this picture of the first time I held you in my arms, my precious baby girl.
