Journaling: When I was a kid, my mother would say that she was going to change her name. As a mom of two kids, ages 4 and 5, I now completely understand her declarations. It seems that every statement or question uttered begins with, “Mommy!” On some days, that one word can sound like nails on a chalkboard to me.
But just about the time that I think I’m going to loose my mind, that one word is followed by three others that melt my heart every time, “I love you.” Ah, serenity.
Aidan and Parker are neither shy nor stingy with their “I love you’s.” No matter the location, circumstance or surroundings, they will spontaneously offer, “Mommy? I love you.”
I love you, too, pumpkin.
