No rules to this project for me this year - some weeks there may be a few stories - other weeks nothing at all to report.
I'm going for a paper scrappy look this year.

Journalling over the two pages:

Warrnambool Surf T Surf - Mike's first official fun run and the fourth time I'd run it. I had almost gotten to the point of thinking I couldn't give a toss about it as we were both tinged with sadness as Molly had passed away only two days before. We both decided though that this would be "Molly's run".

Mike was doing his first ever real deal fun run in the 6km and I had entered the 10km. We decided to both carry a photo of our girl and I also had her little flower collar tag in my pocket.

Mike was running with my friend Kelli, and he said it really took his mind off things keeping up with her. He did a brilliant job coming in at 45:03 although he said he felt like he was having a heart attack at the end!

I was going to give Molly's run my all today. I went out strong, all the while I imagined Molly running free beside me, no leash, tongue hanging, big smile on her face. I let out a few "come on girl we can do it" on the course, out loud. I must have appeared quite mad to people nearby me, but I didn't care. It truly felt like she was with me. I teared up a few times but brushed it away, as there was no way I was going to be able to run with a tearful snotty blocked nose.

At one stage I looked at my Garmin and knew that unless I fell flat on my face that this was going to be a PB run, which spurred me on. I came over the finish line at 1:08:49, my best time ever by over 3 minutes for this distance. Mike was ecstatic, I met up with him soon after in tears. We were both so happy, this day of firsts for us was one for Molly. The icing on the cake was meeting up with and talking to Mona later, he graciously spoke to us about our running. It had been such a good day amongst all the sadness. Team Gilmour !
