Shannon sent me this cool shot of the abandoned Berkeley Pier... the pier originally was 3.5 miles long (that's a LONG pier!) but now it's only 2.5 miles long. San Francisco Bay is chipping away at it. Only 3,000 feet is open to the public and there is a 50-foot gap between the public portion and this abandoned portion. Eventually, the bay will swallow the pier...
