Our other dog sport...

Journaling: I entered Cody into our national specialty tracking test at the higher TDX level. It was held in southern California so we had to make a long drive down there and stay in a hotel overnight.
Unfortunately it was dry and hot on test day. We usually do not train in the heat. Cody failed at the start of the track. It was on a slight hillside and the track started along the hillside and Cody keep wanting to follow the scent up the hill. He would go on the actual track a few steps and then start climbing up the hill. He'd lose the scent and come back down, follow the track for a few steps then go up the hill. He did this about 3 times. Poor boy just wasn't getting a good lock on the scent. After Cody failed the actual test we completed the track with the help of his tracklayer. He stopped twice on the track to lay down in the areas that had tall grass. He was just too hot.
Despite all that it was a nice day out with tracking folks and the ECSCA club did a good job hosting the test.
