Here is my BLATANT lift. That's the sincerest form of flattery right?? Thanks Deanie! I was inspired by the arrows but used the Going Away kit as those arrows all point various directions and as we don't know which direction he will go....they seemed appropriate.

I swear I do have other children but as my son's high school years come to an end, and his college plans are yet to be determined, I am having a hard time seeing past this huge unknown. Few people can relate to this process if you have not gone through service academy applications (we've been working on this for 15 months). These last few weeks have been tortuous.

journaling: It is the middle of March and we still have not heard anything from the academies or Naval ROTC. Another anxious parent described the wait. “What a miserable occupation this waiting has become. This final month seems as long as the months and years that brought us here. Time slowed to a torturous crawl, each day limping toward into the next as we nurse ourselves on a cocktail of equal parts Hope and Fear.” I know in my heart that you will make an amazing officer, I just wish we knew where that would be! USNA, USAFA, NROTC, whatever your path I am so proud that you are my son. Godspeed.
