We have a new friend that has found a favorite resting spot at our house. Bruce noticed this roadrunner sitting on one of our outside lights last Saturday as we were getting into the car. At first, we didn’t know what kind of bird it was, until we saw his long tail resting up against the wall. Since then, he leaves in the morning around 7:30 and comes back around 5:00. He sleeps there all night long. After doing some research, we learned that in the winter, roadrunners go into sort of a hibernation state at night as a way to save energy and heat. He (or she) comes and goes like clockwork. We decided a name was needed, so Bruce came up with “Rudy.” It has been so much fun to watch him come and go and take a few photos.
