¹Josh translation: Thanks was said in an uberpolite false way. In other words, he was saying this was the first present that he opened Christmas morning that made him happy.
I'm actually not sure what was funnier; his complete lack of graciousness² or the fact that the present he was happy about was a back cushion³.
²He’s normally more polite in society at large, he keeps the obnoxious quips especially for us.
³He usually tries to steal his dad’s back cushion in the car, so he put one on his Christmas list.
