Journaling as requested LOL:
Our introduction to Austria was the lovely pastel coloured town of Graz, then a muddy campsite at Hartberg. Poor Mary got her wheels stuck when we tried to park her amongst all the huge RVs and caravans. A man from one of them wandered over to help (we thought). But, no, he only said “you should not have driven on that wet part” then turned around and walked back to his RV. The next night we spent at a large campground in a Viennese suburb surrounded by the large tents of Contiki bus tours. We used the bus and the U-bahn to get into the city centre where we indulged in cake and coffee at a cafe in the main square before visiting the Kuntshistoriches Museum (Brueghels and an amazing Egyption collection). We walked all around the city, ending up at the Prater (the famous funfair) where we rode the ferris wheel, played with toy boats and ate chicken and salad. Then a very late bus back to the camp. The next day we explored Schloss Schonbrunnen (beautiful gardens and fountains). One thing that amazed us about Austria was the men walking around in lederhosen and tyrolean hats, and the women in dirndls even in the middle of Vienna.
