This layout is for Carol’s December’s Story Scrapbook Challenge on the Designer Digital’s Blog this morning . . . we were to document a moment from Christmas past, present or future. I enjoyed making another page for my ongoing Christmas Card Book which begins the Christmas of 1966 . . . the year in which my husband and I married and continuing forward. I plan for this project to take me about two years . . . ‘book one’ will be from 1966 to 1991: the 1st 25 years! ‘Book two’ will start in 1992 and cover the second 25 years of Christmas cards! 1970 will have four pages in this new book . . . here are the pages 1 & 2. (Looks like baby Mark is ready for a nap and is crying. Too much excitement for this little guy on Christmas morning!)

Journaling: After your daddy came home from Vietnam in August of 1970 he was assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina . . . we moved into a tiny three bedroom house on Grimes Street in the officers housing area at Ft. Bragg.

It was in this home that we celebrated Christmas for the first time as a family of four with our sweet nine-month-old Mark and two-year old Michael. This year our tree was larger our ornament collection was growing and our hearts were full of the blessings given to us in the past twelve months.

Aunt Velma made us a few cute little felt nursery rhyme ornaments and we bought a few more strands of light and Christmas balls. HaHee gave the little boys some cute ornaments and Aunt Lucille found two wooden ornaments when the two of us went to Christmas Village in Nashville with their names painted on them. We still didn’t have a mantle to hang our stockings from, but we did have a wonderful book case that Ernie made for our new home which was perfect to for 4 cup-screws to hang our stocking from . . . we added a new stocking made by Aunt Velma for baby Mark. This year we had our pretty tree in North Carolina plus two other trees in Cookeville and Crossville! We drove in our little white Renault to celebrate the holidays with our children’s grandparents! It had been almost six moths since we had seen them and I know that they and we looked forward to Christmas with our little boys!
