I hope you'll join me in December's Story Scrapbook Challenge, where I'm challenging you to scrap a moment from Christmas past, present or future.

I've chosen Christmas present, the way we like to hide away in our little town here and just celebrate Christmas the two of us.

We love to hide away here in Mortlake and spend Christmas just the two of us. We love our families of course, but if there’s a year that we don’t have to travel, a year that we’ve already done the “family thing” a week or two prior, we will jump at it. There’ll be a leisurely sleep in on the cards, maybe go for a Christmas run, open our Christmas stockings, cook up a feast just for the two of us (and the menagerie of course), the table is decorated with the best china, the eating is done, we settle down in the afternoon with a wine or a bourbon and open the presents sitting under the tree that have been teasing us all morning, then perhaps a full bellied snooze on the couch, dessert after during late afternoon, just the two of us. Mike will invariably have a second serving of dessert. Bliss! It’s amazing though how many people will decide that this just won’t do, and invite us to their huge family gatherings. It’s lovely to be thought of like this, but nooooooo, this is just the way we like it. The day is our own to make it as special as we want it to be. It’s fantastic hiding away. So shhhh... don’t tell a soul, we’re doing the same again this year!
