I found this awesome idea on Pinterest that I will be starting as a new family tradition. The idea is to place 'hope' notes in our stockings when we pack them up for storage. The notes aren't necessarily goals or dreams, just practical things we hope to see happen before the next Christmas arrives. As your family grows and your kids get older the hopes change. Some ideas mentioned for the ‘hope’ notes included: be potty trained, will start talking clearly, learn to recognize letters & shapes, begin walking, go on a movie date with mommy (my oldest hoped for that), begin reading chapter books, a year of rest and living in the moment, learn to sew clothes, travel overseas etc... Then they talked about writing the ideas down in a simple handmade journal and the journal sitting in their living room and from time to time they enjoy reading (and laughing) at the things they wrote. I hope this idea inspires you too because I love traditions and this one rocks!! (note: I plan on cutting these out)
