Day 05 & 06: 30 Days of Thankful
Playing catch up! I’m doing a 30 Days of Thankful book this year with inspiration from Cathy Zielske.
Day 05: “A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” ~ Ecclesiastes 3:8
This wonderful Civil War battlefield is practically in our back door . . . and we are so fortunate to be able to drive here to wander and think on all that occurred here as we walk the fields and pathways. I never tire of seeing the cannons and the beauty of the cemetery with its’ rows upon rows of tombstones for the fallen soldiers from so many states who fought and died here upon Tennessee soil.
Day 06: “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.” ~ James 5:7
We are gathering Hickory nuts by the gallon buckets at the farm . . . this has been going on for about a month! Today we mailed a box to Ed’s sister, which weighed 9 lbs.! He has been mailing her cracked Hickory nuts for the past three years and she loves them!! Who wouldn’t? Today he brought home this double . . . neither of us have ever seen a double nut of any sort . . . it is the size of a baseball and would probably hurt really badly were it to zing you in the head!!

PS . . . the Hickory Nuts are definitely edible! They taste a bit like pecans but a larger nutmeat and not so easy to crack either!
