Journaling: It was a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad morning. The first snow/ice day of the season had arrived and I thought I'd be nice and drive the older ones to school. Only problem? No scraper. Of course, I didn't really realize that until it was too late for them to walk. I started to use a gardening spade (yes, I was that desperate) but my neighbor came through for me.
One of our sliding doors on the van was frozen. It moved enough to engage "the door ajar" beeping noise, but we couldn't shut it. So we were fortunate enough to have that as our musical accompaniment all the way to the high school. We arrived with a whole three minutes to spare until school started. My plan to do something nice didn't exactly work as I intended.
So the moral of the story could be A) Be more prepared or B) Take advice from a literary classic and just move to Australia. The first one seems more realistic. However, a move to Australia would also mean that I most likely wouldn’t need an ice scraper in November. So, It’s a bit of a toss up really.
